Austria vignette: which one suits your trip?
Last checked: 3 November 2026
Vehicles up to 3.5 t need a vignette on Austrian motorways and expressways. There are four types: 1 day, 10 days, 2 months and 1 year. Which one pays off depends on how often and how long you drive in Austria.
The four vignettes at a glance
| Vignette | Validity | Vignette fee |
|---|---|---|
| 1-day | the chosen calendar day, 00:00 to 23:59 | 9.60 € |
| 10-day | the chosen day and the following 9 calendar days | 12.80 € |
| 2-month | from the chosen day to the same day two months later | 32.00 € |
| Annual | until 31 January of the following year | 106.80 € |
With us, the service fee comes on top and is shown separately with every price. You see the exact end date in the summary before you buy.
Transit, holiday or frequent trips?
- A single transit on one day: the 1-day vignette.
- A holiday or a return trip within 10 days: the 10-day vignette.
- A longer stay or several trips in a short time: the 2-month vignette.
- Regular trips: the annual vignette. A year's vignette is valid from 1 December of the previous year to 31 January of the following year, so up to 14 months.
Which vehicles need a vignette?
Cars, minibuses, vans (N1) and motorhomes with a maximum permissible weight of up to 3.5 t pay the same fee. Motorcycles have a separate, cheaper vignette, which you cannot order from us. A trailer or caravan needs no vignette of its own: the towing vehicle's vignette is enough.
Over 3.5 t: the GO-Box instead of a vignette
Vehicles with a maximum permissible weight over 3.5 t, heavy motorhomes included, do not use the vignette. They pay the distance-based GO toll and need a GO-Box for it.
Digital only from 2027
From 1 December 2026 the sticker vignette is no longer sold; the 2026 sticker stays valid until 31 January 2027. After that there is only the digital vignette, linked to the licence plate.
On some routes (Brenner, Tauern, Karawanken, Arlberg, Pyhrn) you pay a separate toll instead of the vignette, see section tolls in Austria.
You can order the Austrian digital vignette online from us: choose the period and start day, enter the plate and pay.
